Many thanks to all who responded to my request for help!!  The folks on
this list are a fantastic resource for anyone who owns an Audi.  I only
hope that once I have enough experience that I may be able to
contribute.

I have decided to continue my research on the throwout bearing
replacement (read: wait until it gets worse).  For the A/C cpmpressor,
I'm going to change the clutch first and hope that it solves the
problem.
