Buying an Audi 5000CSTQ

A friend of mine and I are looking at Audis. I am looking for a 4000CSQ
and he has been checking out a couple 5000s.

Last night we drove an 87 silver w/black leather 5000CS Turbo Quattro.
Overall, the paint was descent...although messed up in a couple spots, and
the interior was IMMACULATE for a 9 year old car.

BUT...there were a couple questions I had for the group:

1> The front and probably all 4 shocks are shot. I come from
the VW world and am used to the prices of VW shocks, even the VR6 Corrado
shocks. Are Audi shock prices that much different? If he was to go with a
sportier setup (i.e. H&R springs and Boge/Bilstien/Koni shocks) are there
any spring and/or shock recommendations for this BIG car?? Rabbits and
Sciroccos are easy...what about a big luxery car?

2> There were some damaged CV joint boots....the CVs werent
making noise, but they looked worn and possibly split on a couple.
Replacement any harder than the replacement on a VW??

3> The engine didnt idle correctly. It had positive boost
pressure though. We got the MFA to register up to 1.6 bar during accel runs
in the car. Is this a correct reading?? As far as the idle...it would
constantly fluctuate from 800rpm to 1200rpm and back down........just like a
rrRRRrrrRRrrrrrRRRrrrrRRR. If you get my drift. Any idea as to what
causes that??

Thanks in advance and please reply directly to me. There is ENOUGH
traffic on this Quattro list.

You guys even make us Corrado-list guys seem quiet!! <grin>
