RE: Quattro, ur-quattro and TQC?
The terms Quattro with a capital 'Q', ur-q, ur-quattro, QTC and TQC refer to the original Quattro - _The Quattro_. This was the first production quattro, the one that was most highly acclaimed by the automotive press and took Pro Rally and the world by storm in the early 1980s and has a Coupe' GT-style body, wide fenders, rear spoiler, deep front & rear valences, turbocharged & intercooled engine and AWD. Low, wide, handsome and mean. This is the only quattro known simply and marked as 'Quattro' and is unique in this respect. All other quattro-equipped models have a model designation followed by the descriptor 'quattro', indicating quattro AWD, or the 'Sport Quattro' SWB model. The factory changed their printed references to the original Quattro from Quattro to Quattro Turbo Coupe in printed literature, Bentley, etc, to help reduce confusion between it and the new quattro AWD models. To be truly accurate one should use the acronym QTC rather than TQC, but TQC has been used so frequently and so long that it might be tough to change to QTC.
There was a model designated the Coupe' quattro, but not in the US. The Coupe' quattro has the Coupe' GT body, quattro AWD and NO turbo, NO fender flares. This model is NOT the ur-q/The Quattro.
Hope this helps to stamp out some of the confusion,
-glen
