MSD Ignitions
Has anybody tried using a MSD ignition in an Audi? I had good luck
running one (MSD 6A) on a '71 911T. Would it confuse the ECU with the
multi-spark?
For those that aren't familiar with these ignitions: They were a direct
bolt on replacement on most engines. They provided multiple spark plug
firings per cycle. At idle, you would fire the plug 6 times and,
decreasing in frequency up to about 3k rpm, it would fire only once.
High energy spark of around 60kv (I forget how many joules but it was
substantial). I used an epoxy coil with a fast recharge time. I seem to
recall regapping the plugs from .035 to .045 also. Would this help at
high boost conditions? Or am I just exposing my ignorance of Audi
ignition systems here?
