Re: 86 5KCSQ clutch or shift linkage?

know my way around most cars. I have been doing drivability, AC, and
electrical at a Chrysler store for 14 years. (Incidentally, the dealer
bashing on this list gets old. Not ALL Audi techs can possibly be as bad as
some might think.) Anyway, my clutch will not fully release and I can't get
reverse with out heavy grinding unless I turn the car off. I have power
bled the hydraulics and taken the shift adjustment as close as I can get.
Any suggestions? Thanks

Sounds like a MC/Slave prollum to me.... Does the clutch pedal come all the
way up? You may want to pull the slave and see if the TOB has the medal
retaining tab attached (at bottom of trans), this keeps the TOB off the
clutch... You can ck the Slave action with the slave out of the car... Audi
OEM tends to put paint where brake fluid goes, and over time the paint flecks
build up a crud the MC and Slave cylinders.... frequent bleeding once fixed
tends to reduce the occurence...
