Re: Fastest & Stickiest Audi?

Scott-

I had an '88 4kcsq before I found my '91 coupe Q. (Although I may get
shot for this, I actually owned a '93 Subaru Legacy AWD during the
intermittent period.) Although I cannot speak from experience with both
cars for driving through snow, etc., I have noticed that my coupe is a
bit more grippy in extreme situations. (like catching a bit o' air off of
a corner on a sharp hill, <GRIN GRIN> or even going sideways through a
rain soaked corner.) In the 4kcsq, for example, if one of the front
wheels caught some air, practically all power (as it felt to me) was
transfered to that wheel untill it caught hold again. The engine also
seemed to bear witness to this phenomenon since the RPMs would shoot up
while the wheel was airborne. In the coupe, however, that experience is
practically nil. (Of course it could just all be in my head.) Please
don't get me wrong though. The quattro system with the manually locking
diffs is still very effective. in fact, I am still not sure which one I
prefer. Being the control freak that I am (is it any wonder I like
Audis?), I do miss those manual diff locks.

Well, that's just my thoughts on the subject. Knowing me, I could be
totally wrong though.
