Audi News...

How interesting that the "Audi Killer Car" BullSh** seems to be forgotten.

The 5000 Series was blamed for killing kids due to spontaneous acceleration.
It was a joke. A 60 minutes news reel showed the car surging forward after
ignition. It made Audi look really bad, and promted a whole set of safety
standards with us today, like "you can't put it in drive unless your foot's
on the brakes..." etc.. It also promted Ned Ritchie to name his company
INTENDED ACCELERATION.

BUT- the 60 minutes reporter later admitted to having created the situation
for television, to prove the point. Audi did not defend itself and decided
to remain quiet. After doing research, it found that the real reason was
that people were slamming the accelorator instead of the brakes, in their
reaction to the car rolling forward naturally when it was placed in gear.

Cool heads prevail.

BTW- When we were at the dealer today to finish the deal on the A4Q 1.8T and
the A6Q (which is white, not silver) he told us that there is some REALLY
GOOD NEWS for audi enthusiasts- as in, the USA will no longer be denied the
top performing cars like the old days. Look forward to the 2 door roadsters,
Turbos, and joint projects all within the next 18-24 mos.

Better late than never.

AND- there is a 1991 Coupe Quattro for sale at OGNER Motorcars in Southern
CA. They want $15,500 for it, it is pearl white with the standard package
and 75K miles. Looked very clean, reminded me of my old 1991 Coupe before
the disaster. If interested, drop me a line or call JOEL at OGNER in Canoga
park, CA, 818 area code. Tell him saam says hello. A guy has already made a
$13,300 offer, and the dealer is thinking about it...

Later.
