'90 Coupe Q little secrets revealed at last!!!

Hi all.

I had reported idle problems which you had all responded to having
experienced, and a rattle thought to be from the exhaust. Here's the news,
from an unexpected source.

1) The rattle is from the distributor. It happened at around 1500rpm under
load. We thought it was exhaust, bearings, transmission- but no. It is the
distributor, a $500+ piece that is luckily covered by my warranty.

2) The idle problem is from a cracked "engine breather hose." A lot of you
had similar problems of a "bobbing" tachometer when you brake hard or when
you start the car. Maybe you should check this.

Here's the joke- I had been on a trip for 10 days and left the car with the
dealer. The idiot mechanic "been with dis company for o'er 15 yirz!!" said
that my buzzing was coming from my K&N filter, and that I had no idle
problem.

THANKS TO YOU GUYS, I did the ol' pressure check trick in front of the
service manager (who didn't know about it either). Removed the oil filler
cap- idle stayed neutral. Embarassed, he confirmed the info with his "TOP
TECHNICIAN" and 2 hours later, all my problems were solved.

MY CAR IS PERFECT!!!! AND I'M GETTING A FREE DETAIL FROM HILTON HOTEL who put
a smudge in my bumper.

YAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOO joy to a noise free ride, an extended warranty, and
invaluable help from the list. Thanks to all of you for your help and
responses.
