I must be very lucky then.  
I have an 1987 Coupe Gt with the 2.3l engine,  I actually get more power 
(at least it feels that way) when my a/c is turned on.  I asked a friend 
about this and he told me that the computer receives a compensatory 
signal to adjust the mixture when the a/c is on.  Whatever it is it sure 
works!  I don't have a lag when the a/c is on....I have Mo Power!
Just my experience......press the go pedal harder!
