the d**n tyres again...
Hi all,
OK, OK, this has been beaten to death already... still, it's tyre
replacement time for me soon, and the praise heaped on the Dunlop D60As on
this list has aroused my curiosity.
My 80 1.8 is only modest in power, no AWD but can still be a lot of fun on
the twisty bits. Going through a bend fast (but expertly) is the only legal
way for me to have fun on public roads. Sooo... what gives? I currently run
Pirelli P2000 175/70 R14 84H tyres, which give excellent grip in the dry,
good in the wet, very good life and road noise is not too much. No
out-of-round problems, not even in the cold of last winter.
My car has no power steering, and compared to the previously mounted
Continental Eco's (otherwise cr*p) steering is a bit heavy at low speeds.
Once at speed, feel is very nice. and, nearly 40K km (25K miles) on one set
of tyres with my driving style isn't bad at all.
My questions:
-Are the D60As made in the above mentioned size? My local tyre fitters
don't know about this.
-How about life? I'm not the wheelspinning type, just like to get around
bends fast
-How are these for road noise? There's a big difference between tyres on my
car- the Contis managed to make themselves heard over my car stereo's ample
noise...
Please, ladies and gents, humour me and regurgitate this once more!

Het is even zoeken, maar het went op den duur wel.
