Re: Bolts r' us

To all of you Quattro heads(did I spell Quattro correct?):
A: always make sure the threads are clean (if you do not, the torque value
will not be correct!)
B: most of the time torque values are given, it is with threads lubricated,
antisieze OK (if not lubricated add 10 or 15% to the given value, I can not
swear by the % value but if you insist I will dig in my SAE manuals
assuming it is the same as TUV, German Std.)
C: I do not think that 10 or 15% deviation from the factory value will get
you in trouble, by the way, when is the last time you calibrated your
torque wrench? what length of extension are you using? and a few more
questions, get the point?
Make sure you kris-kross while torquing the wheel. Audi is very particular
about wheel to hub relationship (I have a service bulletin about this
subject, "wheel vibration while braking")
I hope the above helps.
