WHY does everybody keep dredging up this universal asterisk that exists on      
nearly EVERY "continuous" sporting event in the world?  i think we can assume   
fuel and male athletes were in short supply during the late teens and early     
40's throughout most of the western world.                                      

i must say that i am surprised by the early start of the IMTT, though...
