That would depend on :
1. WHOSE 'crack' investigators they were.
2. What was the point and purpose of their investigation.
This entire affair took place in a period of anti import hysteria fed by
the Detroit establishment's whining to the Governemnt because the
consumers would not buy the trash they were selling during this period.
At the time, the big 3's idea of R&D was to hire more Madison ave spin
doctors to convince us that the products were worth buying. I still
firmly believe that this was a grandstand play by the Network concerned to
gain more ratings by feeding this frenzy. Let's also remember that the
media also tried to pull something similar with Chev pickups and the
exploding gas tank issue recently.
