Brakes

Hello all,

I have two problems with my brakes. I'm looking for ideas on what could be
causing them and how to fix them. I have an 86 5kCDQTW with about 180k Km.

Prob 1.
Under hard breaking, hard enough to activate the ABS the dash light "(!)"
flashes red and beeps. The Audi owners manual indicates three possible
reasons: 1 Low brake fluid. 2 Low hydraulic fluid. 3 Low hydraulic
pressure. Reason 1 and 2 are out. That leaves #3. I don't think it is
the pump, steering is fine. Could it be the boost amplifier leaking
internally? Or worse could it be the pressure accumulator?
I have not test the boost amplifier, but will on the weekend. I do not
know how to test the accumulator for possible failure. Any suggestions?
Or am I all wet on the diagnosis?

Prob 2.
When the ABS is activated (under hard braking) the rear left wheel still
locks up. The dash light stays off at all times (unless I disable the
system myself or engage the diffs. then it comes on) so according to the
book everything is fine. I assume the sensors are reading wheels' speeds
fine since the light doesn't come on, however it appears to not know that
the rear left has stopped. Any ideas? Could it be a dislodged sensor? Do
I need the plastic boot from the dealer to put it back in place?

Thanks
