hot spot

Hello Q-Listers

I finally got around to fix my seat heater. I read the archives and the
latest tidbits of information floating around the list. I debated which
way to go, solder, no solder , I decided to solder it.
After installation (yes I removed the seat. Could not expose the heater
with it in place) the heater works, but where the fix took place, there is
a hot spot. After about 5 mins. this area is too hot to touch. I'm handy
with a soldering gun and the job was a clean one. No excess solder. I
wove the strands together and then soldered it. The solder covers about
one inch of the wire, fairly thin. It is insulated with heat shrink.
At this point I'm considering redoing the job but this time without solder.
Have any of you experience this.
