Before you do anything else, grab your test light and:
1. Check the appropriate fuses.
2. Check power TO and FROM the seat heater relays. Ignition ON, switch ON.
Actually, there is an easy way to check this. Since the rear seats seldom go bad
you can check the circuitry with their help. Turn the heater controls on and park
a coupla friends in the rear seats. The rear seat warks like a dual-AND Gate. It
is ON if a)the switch is ON and b) somebody's butt is IN it (it has two
microswitches, weight-activated. Aaah, those clever Germans!).
Turn it on MAX too ;-)! If your friends start yelling at you, 'coz they are frying
their behinds, you can rest assured knowing that the current is flowing.
If 1. and 2. OK: take your ohmmeter and check resistance of the heating elements.
The seat and backrest are in series, each approx 1 ohm.
1. If the meter reads 2 ohms: OK. Although most likely it will read:
2. Infinity. In this case one of the heating elements is shot. Remove and repair.

I've never seen one in red. Should be pretty bold looking for such a classy
automobile.
>How much hassle is the red paint?
Less than black or Pearl White, but still a lot, 'coz it is not clear coated.
Plan on investing in Zymol heavily, although the results are stunning.

Oh, with the red one you WILL! BTDT.
