Re: Oil Changing & Related Items

     Duncan,

     1) Canadian Tire wipers or trico are fine.
     2) For that oem wheel look try scrap yards you should be able to pick up a
set of 15" ronals for $100 Canadian.
     3) I've heard really bad things about Canadian Tire's tyres, my advice
don't do it, get the Tire Rack in the states to price a set of Blizzaks you
may be surprised. If you do high mileage the Blizzaks might not be the
     right answer.
     4) I would try synth oil, particularly for the temperature cycling an
engine will experience in a Montreal winter.

I believe your car (being an '86) has a single oil filter, you probably
have water cooled turbo bearings too? The two filter setup was only used on
turbo cars up to the middle of '85(?), from what I hear the extra filter is
overkill and you save yourself $10 each time you do an oil/filter change.

     5) Don't know on the price of a thermostat, doesn't sound like you should
lose sleep, any Audi part less than $300 I always consider a baragian!
     Regards, Mike
