clutches

The latest scoop on my car is....it works kinda-sorta.

After replacing the slave cylinder, to no avail, I ordered a master
cylinder
from IPC for $80 (ATE, identical to the one taken out of the car).
I installed the new MC last night and bled the system, but the car still
wouldn't go into gear.

I don't know if this is helpful, but one day I found myself $400 ahead
and decided to have a new clutch installed in my '82 coupe. 105,000
miles, no slippage, but I figured why wait for a problem. Drove home
from the shop and found clutch was binding, not engaging freely when
released. Shop said bad cable and replaced it. Still no good. Dropped
tranny and reinstalled clutch. No good. Dropped tranny again and
reinstalled clutch. No good. Shop then installed new parts, and sent
first set back to supplier. Turned out the new pressure plate was
faulty, but no visible problem. Sounds like your problem is the
reverse, but could still be a pressure plate.
