I had the same problem on a 91 100. The trunk in this car is locked,
unlocked by a little rod that is moved by pneumatic pump that in turn
moves a little locking clip in lock cylinder.. What happens is
that when the lock mechanism gets dirty, the pressure is not enogh to
move the dirty locking clip in the mechanism. So I opened the black
plastic cover inside the trunk lid and cleaned the lock mechanism and
lubricated it with light oil. Also adjusted the boot on the pneumatic
pump-rod connection. If that boot is not on properly, some air leaks out
and pressure falls. Took me 15 minutes.
