Peeling clearcoats and misc....

 peeling wheels?

Looking at a black '90 Coupe Quattro 20V earlier this summer, the salesman at
the Audi dealer had told me that since Audi had a problem with the clearcoat
on these wheels, they offered the owner another set of wheels. The car I was
looking at had a set of 5 spoke MSW's on it with Pirelli snows and also had
the original speedlines with summer tires. Any truth to this?? I know they
had/have the clearcoat peeling prob, but did Audi actually buy wheels for
owners? The car appeared to be beautiful, except that it had a paint blister
(bubble) on the driver's side rear panel at the start of the rear wing. The
car had been repainted (flawless-except for this) and it had a barely
noticeable crease on that rear panel. The dealer wouldn't speculate further
on the damage at the time, claiming he didn't know it had been repainted,
then he saind it was a small repaint, just a parking lot ding. If it was,
why was there still a crease in the panel? I didn't want to get into kind of
situation with a rusting Audi (they don't/shouldn't), even though he claimed
it would be repaired under warranty. Not knowing the repair history, and if
genuine Audi parts were used, I have a feeling that when it came time to
repair/repaint it, they wouldn't have. Also, there was undercoating inside
on part of the rear seat. Too shady. Geez, did I say all that, must be
bored...
