Wiring

Jay asked about wiring for his radio.....................

My observations based on Bose system in 1990 200.

You really could benefit from finding a wiring diagram...but they are
not always accurate. However, they tend to be more accurate for the
standard radios than for the Bose, which is totally undocumented

I think it's (unswitched Battery +) but this is a guess. Check with
a voltmeter for 12v present at all times.

Dunno.

I think this is the light.

I agree.

Data is the feed to the little window in the dash which shows the
radio station. Clock is a poser....I don't know, unless power for
the clock loops through here, which I doubt.

Normally, yes. This is probably the line-out feed to the amp. You
found an easy (and important) one there!

Ground or Earth, as the Brits have it.

AH!! Fooled you!! This is the radio's connection to the alarm
system - so it will sound if the radio is removed. (Evidently only
if someone breaks a window and crawls in without openind a door....)
This can be disconnected and ignored.

The good news with this is to concentrate only on finding the leads
you NEED in the existing system:

*Left front + and -
*Right front + and -
*Power (Audis have no switched power - all are unswitched.)
*Ground
*Antenna (amplifier) relay must be connected, even tho you have no
power antenna - it powers up the Audi antenna amps.
*Rear speaker amp inputs (the line-out connections you've described,
and which you will use if you want to use the Audi rear amp.)

Those are the only connections you need. The rest will be abandoned
since you can't use them anyway.

Make sure not to leave any hot leads un-insulated!
