No, the A4 costs more because it is in general a higher-end automobile
and built with higher quality materials.  Go sit inside an A4 and you
will see and feel the difference.  And yes, the current A4 has better
front suspension than the *current* Passat: the trick 4-link virtual-
steering axis design.  On a A4 quattro, the rear suspension is a true
double wishbone design.

This is not to say that the Passat is an inferior automobile.  The
Passat is roomier than the A4 and offers great value for the money.
It just doesn't quite have that intangible panache of the A4.
