Sorry!
Hey guys, about this metric conversion thread, I'm sorry I ever started
this! Can we end it now?
Back to Audis... I've looked at a 1988 Coupe 2.3E today. Guy wanted $10K
for it, but offered an astronomical sum for my 80. Unfortunately, while he
said on the phone it was excellent, my eyes told me differently... It
looked like it had been washed with sandpaper, and there were dents all
over the body. The previous owner had some trouble with the size of the
car, judging by the numerous cracks and scratches in the bumpers. One of
the alloy wheels had piece of the rim missing, the interior looked like a
WW3 castoff... so I told the guy something about misrepresentation of
goods, and I was extremely pissed off because of having travelled some way
for nothing. I didn't actually drive the piece of junk, because something
that looks *that* bad on the outside can't be properly maintained. And the
worn interior leaves me in some doubt about the actual mileage of the car.
My car looks like new inside with 122K miles on it, the guy claimed the
Coupe had done only 80K!
@#$%^! It seems that only the crappy Audis are affordable here!
Oh well...

PS VW claim that the panel gaps on the new 97 Passat are neater and smaller
than on the leading Jap cars... a nice difference from my dad's 90 Golf
which has panel gaps like a mailbox!
Last week AutoBild magazine put the Passat against the Mercedes C-class,...
and it won! VW must be doing something right...

I think animal testing is a terrible idea;
they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.
