crank bolt is off

The starter and lever trick worked fine.  I supported the
ratchet with a block of wood and held it in place just in case,
my wife turned the key for 2 secs and it was off.  Cool.
Now to figure out how to get the rest of the belts, etc off
and get it all back together.

Turns out I was missing a stud for the manifold to downpipe,
but I'm leaving it be for now.  Downpipe is in place, 
starter is back.  Tomorrow I'll tackle the rest maybe.
