I only have the figures fro my 80q handy - if I remember, I'll try to 
 find the Instruction manual for the Avant (Wagon to you) this weekend 
 and will post the figures from that also.

Max trailer weight
Trailer without brakes	600kg
Trailer with brakes
on gradients up to 12%	1400kg

Max nose weight
on ball coupling		50kg
			at least 4% of the actual trailer load
			but need not be more than 25kg

There are also some rules (country dependant) about max speed 80km/h.  
 Some countries allow higher speeds than this, but only for trailers 
 less than 1000kg.

>From memory, the figures for the Avant are all 10 or 20% higher.  It's 
 all to do with the weight of the towing car.
