Re: My turbo 4000 quattro
Thanks for the explanation of the rear end on my 4kq. Bently does
not mention that info. I would have been screwed if I ever bought
one in hope to fit it to my car without bying the cv-joints. As for
the hubs it looks like I will stick with four bolt just becouse it
looks like pain in the ass to convert to five bolt. Would 1990 Coupe
quattro dual piston calipers and rotors (four bolt) fit the 4kq.
I've notice that many parts interchange from VW's. Maybe a Corrado
caliper would work? I wish I could have a cataloge with all the
dimensions of Audi parts. It would answer so many questions.
I thought I'll mention I had a problem with both rear tie rods on my
4kq (very expensive parts I found). I also had some used but perfect
tie rods d\from a Scirroco ( I used to own 3 ) Those tie rods have a
feemale end and 4kq have male. What I did is have a machin shop make
me threaded bars that would fit the Scirroco tie rods to make them
just like the 4kq ones. It worked wery well and saved me $$$.
I also obtained a manual steering rack. Move the battery to the
trunk. Scrapped the air-conditioning. Manual window winders. No
cruise. Manual sunroof (had to modyfie the roofliner). Installed
Coupe gauges in the fresh air vent (perfect fit). I am starting to
depress myself. I had so much fun. Oh well.
I hope I'm not boring you!
