S4 Flooding...(with water??)
Hi guys,
My apologies for not making it to New Hampshire...but we had a pretty major
rainstorm, and our basement got flooded - among other things...
I have a question regarding the S4:
It seems that there's a river behind the dashboard - it's really wierd, but
considering all the rain we had, it seems logical, but not for a car that's
much newer than my other two!! I noticed a "hissing" noise Saturday night
while making a sharp right turn, then the windshield would fog up from the
inside - until I hit the defrost button, which helped.
(The cars climate control was on "auto", with temperature set at 70 degrees
fahrenheit)
Now, as I've had the climate control on "auto" again all day, and have been
able to reproduce the above effect numerous times, I decided to stop using
the compressor, and try to dry it out with the heat directed to the
footwells, occasionally using the windshield defroster to clear up the
fogging...
The other thing that I had noticed all day Sunday, was that now after leaving
the compressor on, and turning sharply left and right, the dash would be
dropping significant amounts of water (about one cup), into the footwells
when I turned.(right on my feet as well)
My initial thought (Saturday night) was that the power assist mode had been
depressurized in some fashion, but none of the warning lights came on, and
the cars "servotronic" power assist was working normally. So now I
hypothesize that it could be that the a/c drain is plugged up...any comments
on that??
I *know* that the front windshield fogging and water coming down into the
passenger footwell was a major problem for the 200 series cars, but I thought
that the S4's were pretty much trouble-free! Any help would be much
appreciated!!
