Re: Radar alert

Are these "GATSO" revenue makers smart enough to adjust the timing
between
clocking the vehicle and taking the picture? It seems that if you drove
past one fast enough it would miss the picture. You know, sort of like
trying to take pictures of indy cars travelling in excess of 100mph.
Has anyone on the list gotten one of these tickets? If so, what is the
image show(Is it zoomed into the back of the car, or does it show the
whole road). If you knew one of these thingies was coming could you
drive
on the wrong side of the road to avoid getting your picture taken?

Yes this is SORT OF possible. A friend of mine was approaching a GATSO
in a national speed limit area (60 MPH) doing about 95 / 100. At the top
of the hill he was approacing was the GATSO, so he .... overtook a lorry
at the appropiate momnet so the GATSO couldn't see him through the
lorry.

To possible ways to get round GATSOs (although I have never tried them);

1. Get a friend with a 7.5 tonne truck and reverse into the GATSO so it
doesn't point at the road any more.

2. Paint out the white markings on the road and repaint them with the
white line further apart so when the case gets to court the GATSO says
you were doing 90 MPH but the photographic evidence (which is need for a
conviction) says you were doing 50 MPH !
