Garage of Dreams
-- [ From: human * EMC.Ver #2.5.02 ] --
Air lines with outlets every few feet - use a connector your local shop uses
for tool flexibility
200A (3phase) electric, outlets every few feet, plan for expandability
Heating should be Gas/LPG FHA with ability to rewarm room fast after door is
opened
Doors should have exhaust gas outlet flanges, and probably electric openers
What about overhead lifts? Absolutely ($$$!) or chain fall/engine hoist. At
least good high ramps with floor pins to prevent sliding. Could design a
double setup to raise entire car. Oh I just remembered how the real "rural
garages" do it - a pit (lots of safety devices though!)
LOTS of fire extinguishers.
mirrors fore and aft for checking lights.
LIGHTING - Flexible arm mounted halogens that swing under/over vehicle
Besides garage doors you want a double entry regular door "airlock" to keep
cold (or heat) out.
Telephone - speakerphone - cordless - intercom to house.
Plan drainage carefully - you want to be able to get rid of unwanted water,
wash floor, etc, but you don't want uncontrolled runoff of chemicals into
environment.
Battery charger/Engine starter (400A style)
Tarps that hang ceiling to floor as partitions for heat or casual paint
booth. (ventilation issues)
Drill Press
(Brake) Lathe
Small Welder (Big welder!)
Pool table
Mandrel pipe bender
Diagnostic computer
Tire changing machine, balancer
office area for Motors manuals, records, paperwork, refrigerator, and
the shop stereo.
Extra room for unplanned needs, project cars.
