I'm also considering a 2.5 in. system for my 87 4kq.  I only get to enjoy it
for 3.5 miles during the daily commute so I've been replacing systems every 2
years.
 
I had a custom job from Meineke for $400 on my 85 4kq and it worked OK.  Not
2.5 in. or stainless though.

I recently contacted Stebro in Canada on their 2.5 in. stainless systems. John
Denis (jaeldee@sympatico.ca) said they did 4000s systems, but not the Quattros.
(Didn't have the jigs to fabricate a systen for the 4000Q.)

He was willing to copy a system if I sent him one.  It was to be fabricatred in
stainless and 2.5 in with a choice of tips for about $550. Or could try to
locate one locally and copy it but hadn't tried yet.  He was willing to create
the fabrication jigs if he could anticipate 5-10 units in the future. Maybe we
could get a lower price if we got a few of us together and/or eliminated the
front muffler. Although his price may have already assumed this.

I'm still soft on the throttle (in my neighborhood anyway), until my pipes fall
off and I end up back at Meineke.

Anybody interested in getting together on this? John seemed willing to work
something out.
