Interesting discussions on photo-radar used in Europe. Fortunately there
was only a couple of towns in the US using this, one being Pasadena CA.
I heard they stopped for awhile but now have started using it again. 
Has anyone had experience with this type of trap in the US and/or
comments about its effectiveness?

It's not effective (in court). In the US you have the right to both face and cross-examine your accuser, the witness of your alleged crime. One cannot 'face' or cross-examine a camera or photograph. Photographic and/or radar evidence is only to be used to support the direct physical observation and testimony of the Revenue Enhancement Occifer and can only be used to corroborate their observations and testimony.
