I don't know what the original OD of the springs is BUT...

there are three methods to making a spring stiffer:

Make the wire dia. Larger,

Make the coil OD smaller,

Wind the spring with fewer coils.

Any time that you lower a car you HAVE to increase the spring rate 
otherwise the car is going to slam into the bumpstops causing all sorts 
of uglyness.

Sounds to me like the shop did not shorten the bump rubbers (Bob D.....  
Stop thinking that RIGHT NOW!) which are used to protect the dampers..... 
 If the car was lowered 1 inch the bump rubers needs to be shortened 1 
inch.
