Re: 1983 URQ Springs
I recently had a set of Eibachs fitted by a shop which subsequently proved
not to know very much about URQs, and am frankly very disappointed in the
result. The car seems to bounce around a lot when driving over bumps in
the road (purely subjective).
My latest mechanic looked at the installation for me, and said that he is
not surprized because he perceives that the springs seem to be of a smaller
diameter than those of the factory, which I unfortunately did not insist on
getting back. We got the car up on his hoist and I cetainly felt more than
a fingers width of gap between the outside of the coil and the lower strut
"cup". I called the supplier of the springs who had had them made
specially by Eibach, who said that he had not had any othe comebacks and
believed that the springs were of identical diameter to the originals.
Can anyone shed any light on this issue or perhaps at least let me know
what the original spring diameter is?
Thanks.
