Re: Power Window Problem

Regarding the failure of you window switches:

As mine also quit on occasion I first start moving good switches into
positions where failed switches are ( just move the wire bundle to a
good switch) to get the window closed. Once back at home I use
sandpaper or a points file to clean the contacts inside the switch
mechanism. Since the switch isn't working anyway, you can
only improve the situation.

On my 85 5k there are some wires cut from the window switch's wiring
harness inside the driver's door. I think these may have gone to a capacitor
that has since been removed and wired around. The capacitor's purpose
may have been to prevent arcing at the switch contacts. (more informed
responses will appear, I'm sure)

The point filing solution has worked just fine for several years now.
