A4 trip computer

hello everyone,

i have a '96 A4Q. when i first got the car, i read thru the owner's 
manual, and was disappointed that it described a trip computer, but it 
wasn't available for the '96's. today, while browsing thru edmunds 
buyer's guide, i noticed that the trip computer is an option for the 
'97's. anyone know if it can be added onto a '96. price seems pretty 
reasonable (msrp $250), and probably can be bargained w/ at the dealer.
