Re: metalmasters suck
Bruce,
I had the Repco Metal Masters on my 5kTQ for about a year, and I can
tell you that these pads are fine. I don't know why you hated them so much.
The only important thing to remember is that they are a completely different
pad than the stock OEM pads, which are very soft. It took me some time getting
used to hard brakes. The pedal feel is a little different. But, IMHO, they
are a better pad than the OEM pads. They tend to be a little rougher on the
rotors though. They stopped well dry and wet for me. They sometimes need to w
arm up a little in real cold weather to work well, and can stand some heavy str
eet use! They are very good at high performance daily driving and last a long
time. Mine had a lot left after a year and a half (looked almost new). But, I
would not reccomend these for track use! They supposedly gas up and fade under
the continuous pounding and abuse that brakes take on the track. So, that is
why I decided to get new pads. I just bought a set of Cool Carbons and many
people have been pleased by them. But, I kinda screwed up and put one in backw
ards when installing them, so I put the MM's back on the front to shave down th
e rotors for a week or so, and then I'll put the CC's on the front. It brakes
great with the MM's on the front and the CC's on the rear. I can't wait to get
the CC's on the front! I'll report on thier performance after I've had them on
for a while and after a track event. Well, that's all folks!
Later,
Dan
