Re: KN Filter
K+N filter elements can increase the HP on a unmodified motor but it
depends on the motor and the increases tend to be at the high end of the
powerband. I have read numerous articles in the UK tuning magazines "Fast
Car" and "Cars and Car Conversions" that have addressed this very
question. Obviously if your particular engine is restricted at the
airbox/filter they can have a large difference but if the restriction is
at the exhaust side then they may not. An example is the MR2 which can
give upto 10 hp increase with a K+N (dyno figures to prove). I have tried
the Pipercross brand elements before (like the Ram Air) and they are very
good but not appreciably better than the K+N (this was with twin 45
DCOE's on a 1950cc MGB).
