Lastest "EUROPEAN CAR" has lame A8 article
Hi fellow/fella Audinauts,
Found the latest EC in my mail yesterday; interesting article on
brakes, not Audi, but interesting. Interesting product review on Monroe
Sensatrac(?) shocks on Mercedes test beds...They actually liked 'em?? Then an
article on the new A8. They didn't like styling; said it was too much like
other Audis. Didn't like interior; said it wass too much like other Audis.
Didn't like wheel/tire combo; said it was only "R" rated. Apparently the car is
governed to only 139MPH. Optional 18" performance wheel/tire combo is
available, but what about this governor nonsense. They said the fit/finish was
excellent, but for $65K+ nothing sets the car apart in appearance from other
Audis costing less than half as much. They claim a car costing that much needs
a hook or gimmick to attract the high-end buyer. The whole article wasn't
negative, but it was negative enough to make me think that the author had
missed the point or was not really an Audi fan. I haven't had time to read the
rest of the mag.
Happy motoring,
Shef
P.S. They also concluded the an all aluminum car and quattro are nice, but the
average driver will never realize the benefits of either...GEEZ!! Who are these
guys!!
