<V8> Problems
Hi listers:
Last week I mentioned how my car was wet inside from the BIG rain here
in Mass. I had the windshield replaced, so we'll see if that helps the
leakage. (For those interested, Central Glass in Brockton did it at
Reitzl Porsce-Audi with OEM glass.) Some new things:
1) Since coming from Colorado, the V8 is MUCH more powerful on
acceleration. If I nail it at a light, I get a brrp sound from the
wheels or drivetrain(s) which sounds like (a least in the old days) a
U-joint, or a drive shaft bearing. It ONLY does it under very hard
acceleration, when the body settles down some. Reiztl said they checked
the CVs and pronounced them OK. I suspect they didn't take the time to
drive it.
2) Another weird problem is a buzz or electronic hum from the dash area
which started up a couple of years ago when my trans was replaced (under
warranty, thank God). It only does it with the drivers door open and can
be stopped by fooling with the gear shift position at the top notch,
pushing down and left. When the gear shift lever is released, the hum
starts up again. Prestige in Denver said flatly that they have no idea
what it is and that they wouldn't fix it as part of their warranty on
parts and labor when replacing the tranny. Hmmph!
3) In Colorado, my car always started up fine and ran smooth (except for
the backing-it-out-to-wash-it-stalling syndrome). Now, on a cold start
it almost always dies a couple of times until I drive off. When
changing from D to R (or visa-versa) it surges sometimes, then dies. It
also surges slightly when driving warm.
None of these are problems, really. On a day-to-day basis, I can live
with them, but they could be sign of something more serious.
Sorry for so much, I been saving up! Any ideas?
TIA.
