PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND DIRECTLY TO PAUL ROYAL RE: Ap Gap+ Run

IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A PERSONAL COPY FROM THE NE-LIST PLEASE
SEE PAUL ROYAL WHO WILL ATTEMPT TO FIX YOUR ADDRESS....
CONTACT PAUL FOR THIS REASON ONLY...THANK YOU.

The Ap Gap+ run is scheduled for Saturday, 11/16. If interested E-Mail me
directly (THAT IS Jonathan Fenton...not Paul Royal)

When stuff needs to go out to the group it will be forwarded to Paul who
has
agreed to send it out for me.

All future anouncements will be made OFF THE Q-LIST!!!! It will come
through
the New England Q-mail list, "run" by Paul Royal (royal@bos.msmail).

BTW, Sugarbush Ski Area opened today, it's snow showering on and off, so
deciding whether to run Summer or Winter tires could be interesting (He
says,
 torque wrench case beside him!)

Here's the plan, and neither rain, wind, sleet, snow, or dead on night
will
stop us!

Meet at 11AM (ok?) on Saturday 11/16 at the McDonald's/Mobil parking lot
on
66W which is immediately after the off ramp of VT 89N exit #4 (Randolph
exit).

>From points South it's 91N from CT/MA to 89N at White River Junction to
exit
#4.
>From NH get on 89N and take it into VT.

Our route:

VT 66W towards Randolph, becoming Rt 12South and then quickly bear Right
to
be on Rt 12A. Follow 12A North a ways (~14? mi) to Roxbury (don't
blink!).
You'll pass the Roxbury Country Store/gas station on your Left, with the
Post
Office next on your right. In a few hundred feet is a Left turn with a
small
green sign marked WARREN, which takes you over RR tracks and up the
Roxbury
Gap(dirt mostly, paved on the other side).

Over Gap to end, where you take a Right onto the Commons Rd(now all paved
from here). Follow a ways as it sweeps Left (stay on pavement) over the
covered bridge into Waitsfield. Left at end onto Rt 100S (do not speed
here).
In ~1.5 miles Right onto Rt 17, which slowly builds in intensity and
curves
to THE AP GAP, the highest paved gap in VT. Beware of the sneaky smooth
turns, some of which go around a 180 degree arc!

We may want to stop in the Mad River Glen parking lot before the final
climb
and over the other side.

Once over the other side, after the curves are done, there'll be a gas
station in a few miles on the left, the Jerusalem country store. We''ll
stop
here to regroup, probably for the return trip from here, but maybe to go
on
into Bristol or beyond.

I hope we can meet up with The Valley Q club at their headquarters for
lunch,
which is Giorgio's restaurant at Tucker Hill Lodge on the Waitsfiled side
of
Rt 17W. I'm working on the arrangements.

A few points for you outastaters:
State Patrol on Rt 91/89 uses X and K radar, rarely using the
instant
on, and very few, let alone in revenue enhancement mode. They seem to
only
hide in the U-turns, but do shoot (while moving) from the other side.
Yes,
when it looks like a clear woods sight line I often triple digit it, but
be
vigilant if there are no cars in front of you.

Towns on our route have very few cops, use X/K, with maybe Ka in
Waitsfield
and Randolph. Generally don't speed in 25-35MPH zones, but once it says
50,
well....

The decision to run summer/winter tires may prove last minute, and I'll
try
to post conditions just before the run.

Any comments or need for time changes, tell me/Peter direct, not through
entire Q-list.

I drove part of it today, and can you say four wheel drift?!

Hasta,
