Most likely problem.  Also perhaps consider hydraulic tappets (seized?, 
 high oil pressure?)

I think this could have caused you to run lean.

One good point about this is that it gives you a chance to replace the 
 oil seals (or valve guides if necessary).  It shouldn't end up being 
 that expensive, unless major head work is required.  Hopefully you'll 
 be driving it in a week or two.
