Re: Aftermarket Hood Problems

     Larry,
Frank's a good guy, some of his welding is close to artwork! He could
probably cut out a section from the air box and then weld it back together.
Switching to a K&N filter (if you haven't already) would allow maybe
1.5-2cm to be cut out of the air box, would this be enough?

The alternative is to reloacte the air box and fuel metering unit. I have
seen pictures of a Treser ur-q with the fuel metering unit swapped round so
the end with all the fuel injection lines is at the front of the engine. Of
cousre this car had a huge air box too, let me know and I can fax you a
     picture.

Due to the total lack of space on this side of the engine bay, I'm looking
into relocating the air box and fuel metering unit when I rebuild my '83.
The main reasons for doing this are:-
     1) This is the way the early '80s rally cars were layed out.
     2) The present location of the air box and fel metering units does nothing
     to keep either cool.
     3) It's a real PITA to change the air filter with the way it is at the
     moment.

By the way, where did you buy the hood? I really like these hoods (or
bonnets as I prefer) they look cool - and they cool the hot side of the
     engine!

     Regards, Mike

p.s. still waiting for cold weather to see if the cold start problem is
     fixed....
