That makes sense.  Many thanks to both Dan and Frontstage who went out to
their cars for me.  I think I must have lost the screw; off to Home Depot I
go.  

PS - did you know it's really easy to drop a bolt down the hole in the carpet
near the emergency brake?  And that it's really deep and you can't get the
bolt out without removing the carpet, which would presumably entail removal
of the whole seat assembly?
