Leaded or unleaded

Good news, good news :-)
Im about to (all being well) put down a deposit on a 88, quattro turbo. 
69,000 miles, FSH, Air Con, Leather in Perl White.
Its got the orange dash, so I presume its one of the 2226cc engines, with 
the water cooled turbo and the torsen diff.

Its been in storage for ages, so its covered in dust at the moment, but 
should clean up well.

Just one liccle question, will I be able to run this on unleaded petrol, 
or do I have to put 4* through it?

The guy Im buying it off, says he will keep it for as long as I want 
(within reason) once I give him the deposit, so that gives me time to 
sell my present car. Since its not on the road, I don't suppose it 
matters :-)
