At the risk of repeating previous messages (I checked the archives), I have
a steering rack question: My 1987 5KCSTQ Wagon (with 190,000 mi. and no
evidence of a new rack ever installed) has the following symptoms:
When the car is cold (below 40 deg.) and the wheel is turned, it groans.
Once car is warmed up some, the groan disappears. It only happens when the
wheel is turned, and stops groaning once you have stopped turning the wheel.
No unusual fluid consumption either.

Please tell me this is not a failing rack which will costs upwards of one
thousand dollars... Thanks,

Crossing fingers and toes,

Barry
