Um, hey,

I don't know if you caught this part of my post or any of my "fix it right"
philosophy regarding Audis from a couple of previous, but you should finish
the job now.  The cables are really cheap, like 15-20 U$, and the hardware 
(golf tees) is also trivial.  You will regret half fixing it because now you
have engineered a failure mode into your car.  Some time when something else
is wrong, even like needing a quart of oil, your quick fix will break.  So
what you should do is, while driving on your quick fix, *order the parts*. 
It's not a rush, and when they arrive you install them at your convenience 
(sunny day, indoors, whatever) and you'll be glad you did.
