fuel pressure

I hae a cold start problem with my 86 5kcst. I think it gas to do with
the fuel system not holding any pressure when engine is shut off. It
will start fine if I run the fuel pump before starting. I have checked
the fuel pump hek valve, it holds fine, the accumulator does not have
fuel pn the wrong side of the diaphram when I remove the screw, and the
old start valve does not leak. That leaves me with the system pressure
regulator, or what else? How do I determine if the injectors are
leaking, or the system pressure regulator. My Bosch manual talks about
the O-rings for the regulator push-valve in the fuel distributor. Are
these replaceable? I have a pressure guage I made, but it only has the
fittings for my Jetta's K-Jet system with flare fittings on the control
pressure line. I guess I need to get some to fit the banjo fitting on
the Audi. I am just wondering if any of you out there have had a
similar experience.
