Good question: Ihave a 1987 5CSKTQ Wagon with 189,000 miles. I bought it
for $2,400 (a steal!) and promptly put about $1,000 in it. The steering
rack shows no signs of replacement, so I hold my breath and wonder if I
should unload it before the rack goes.
I guess the question can best be put this way: Can you afford $1,000 for a
repair next week, or would you rather pay $500/mo. for a loan for comparable
newer 4WD car? The latter is more expensive in the long run, but perhaps
somewhat cheaper in the short run.
