Have you played Need For Speed?  This is an _awesome_ PC MPOG (multi-player
online game...though you can play it locally) in which you choose your
weapon (a high-end exotic) and race in a variety of different settings.
Graphics and sound are top notch: realistic interiors, handling, digital
exhaust samples from each car, etc.  You can download a playable demo which
is well worth it.  Visit your local search engine and look for "need for
speed".  As cool as Quake!
