I have an 86 5k tqw.   
When the seat warmers are on set at 6, no ouch, but uncomfortably hot after
a while (15 minutes).   On a long trip, if I'm going to have them on all
the time, I must keep the below 4.  Most of the time 1 is ideal for me.
